Park City Foodie Tour

Last week, I had an invitation to join the Park City Mountain Food Tour. Loving to both eat and ski, I was ecstatic to accept this request. ‘The Foodie Tour’ as participants call it, is an event put on by Park City to showcase the various menu items across the on-mountain dining locations. From the early morning to the closing whistle, myself and 9 other journalists would be touring the mountain restaurants in search of our favorite dishes.

Executive Chef of Mountain Dining Alex Malmborg hosted us through 6 of the on-mountain restaurants. Upon arrival at each, we had dishes hot and ready.  One thing that immediately stands out is the options. Ski resort dining is no longer greasy burgers and fries, rather an extraordinary selection of hand crafted dishes. Our tour began at the Summit House than made its way through Miners Camp, Cloud Dine, Tombstone Grill, Red Pine Lodge and lastly, the tour was completed at Lookout Cabin.

While dozens of menu items were sampled, I will take you through just a few of my favorites. As mentioned before, we started the morning off at the Summit House. This restaurant just received new state of the art servery and kitchen area. Not commonly known for breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised to ski into the restaurant and to be greeted with beautiful Fruit Galettes and Coffee. The Galettes were light, flaky while the fruit that stuffed the pastry’s sweetly blended seeped into the delicious crust.

From there, we headed to the new Miners Camp Restaurant, just built this summer as part of the $50 million improvement plan.  This place is the real deal and it’s really no mystery why. The food is delicious! Hobo Stew was crisp, crunchy and savory, while the Meatloaf Sandwich will solve any appetite.
