1. 21st Annual Pond Skim
Park City’s pond skimming competition is a tradition that holds as much talent as it does hilarity. Dressed in the most ridiculous costumes, contestants launch themselves down a snowy slope in hopes of gaining enough speed to skim across the man-made pond outside of Red Pine Lodge. The goal for the contestants is to make it completely across the pond, but we all come to watch for the biggest crash and splash.
Be sure to protect yourself from the reflections off of the snow and water by lathering on some Supergoop! sunscreen. Find samples and purchasable products in Red Pine Lodge.

2. Spring Concert Series
The beautiful weather outside is a perfect reason to check out Park City’s outdoor concert series. Starting in March, live bands will play every weekend on either side of the resort. Head over to the outdoor stage after skiing or come by on your day off. The concerts, ranging from funk to electronica, are always free and always fun!
3. Powder Stashes
Park City’s spring weather is famous for the classic “bluebird day”. You’ll hear this term used on the mountain to describe a beautiful clear blue sky after an overnight snowfall. Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because it’s not winter that the snow is gone. Spring can easily bring in the best powder days. Rest assured, with Park City Mountain's 7,300 skiable acres, everyone can find their own stash of freshies.
4. Spring Grϋv
Spring Grüv is a 16-day lineup of local and national musical artists, like Crystal Fighters and MAGIC GIANT, and traditional Park City events including the 21st Annual Pond Skimming Contest. During the spring time celebration, family-friendly activities are offered every day of Spring Grüv at the Park City Base Area and Canyons Village. Meet our Ski Patrol’s avalanche dogs on the mountain for showcasing of their talents and cuteness or see who can make the messiest s’mores at the end of the day around the fire. 5. Groomers
"Groomers" are a skier's term for groomed trails. With the warming sun during the day and cooling temperatures at night, the snow continually goes through a melting-refreezing process. The trick to skiing or snowboarding in the spring is to follow the sun, where you’ll find the softest snow. In the morning, start on the south-facing slopes, like the Bonanza or Super Condor areas, and gradually ski towards north-facing slopes in the afternoon, like the King Con or Dreamscape areas.
For the best tour around the mountain, reserve a peak to peak guided tour with our Ski & Snowboard School. Your instructor will have local’s knowledge, excellent instruction, and helpful tips while you learn to navigate the expansive mountain.
6. The Patio
Between the majestic views and the sunny weather, there’s no better place to sit for lunch than the patio or outdoor deck at any of the on-mountain dining lodges. Summit House at the top of Bonanza Lift has the best panorama of the Uinta Mountains, the barbeque themed Tombstone Grill has includes outdoor seating on picnic tables, and Red Tail Grill at the base of Canyons Village is the best option for sit-down dining with an expansive view of mountain activities.
7. Main Street
Park City's Historic Main Street was made for sunny spring days. Skiing to town for lunch or après is the best way to get the full experience of what it means to live in a mountain town. The patio at High West Distillery and the rooftop balcony at No Name Saloon are just a few minutes away from the bottom of Town Lift. Grab something to eat or drink before heading back up to take a few more laps or take a short bus ride back to the resort.
A favorite amongst visitors is Umbrella Bar, situated right in the middle of Canyons Village surrounded by retail shops and the music stage. The menu features all of your pub favorites and a great selection of draft and craft beers.
8. Thrift Stores
No more hiding underneath multiple layers. It’s time to head to the thrift stores to pick out the most stylish fanny packs and faux fur! It’s not uncommon to see other skiers and snowboarders wearing retro-onesies, full-length costumes, or even bathing suits. These outfits might not be practical or even remotely comfortable, but they’ll give the impression that you’re ready to party from first chair to après.
9. Umbrella Bar
What’s not to like about ending a spring day of skiing or snowboarding with a well-deserved cocktail or beer? You’ll find bars and restaurants with outdoor patio seating at both Canyons Village and Park City Base Area. Your legs can relax after a great day on the slopes while you’re entertained with live music or village activities.
10. The Bus
If you après like we après then you might need a ride home. Lucky for all of us, it’s free! Park City Transit offers free bus rides for nearly every place in town. With major bus stops at both resort base areas, it’s easy to hop onto whichever direction you’re headed. Download the myStop app or the printable timetables for all routes.
