Park City’s Best Winter Events Are Right Here on the Mountain
Whether you’re looking for traditional holiday celebrations, heel-kicking live après concerts, or Spring Break family fun, Park City is home to the most exciting, most fun and most memorable schedule of events this winter season. Take a look below at what’s on tap for the 2017-18 season and make your plans, because this year your Park City visit only gets going after you get off the snow.
Kick off Your Season Right and Make Every Day Count
Season Kick-Off Party (Sat., November 11) – Because we’re too impatient to wait until Opening Day to celebrate the start of the season, we’re throwing a party in the Park City Mountain Village the Saturday before the lifts even start turning. Share high-fives with ski buddies you haven’t seen in for a while, enjoy DJ Velvet bumping fresh tunes and scope out new menu items including the Epic Mountain Burger and other on-mountain features we’re adding for the 2017/18 season. If your board needs some wax or those ski edges are a little dull, passholders get discounted pre-season tunes at Legacy Repairs in the Basement level of Legacy Lodge. The pass office will be open so you can grab your EpicPass early and head straight to the lift on the 17th.
Park City Mountain Opening Day (Fri., November 17) – You’ve been crushing those squats and blasting your core all summer long to get ready – or maybe you’ve just been staring at your gear in the garage. Either way, your wait is over when the Park City Mountain Village lifts start turning for the season. A live DJ helps get the blood going at 8:30 in the morning, then toast the season’s first laps with friends as local favorite Changing Lanes Experience takes over for the après from 2:30-4:30.
Canyons Village Opening Day (Weds., November 22) – There’s nothing quite like an Opening Day, and America’s largest ski resort needs two of them. So celebrate with us again when the lifts in Canyons Village come online for the winter. Get some early-season turns in on some of our classic runs beginning at 9:00 am, then stick around for live après music from 2:30-4:30.
Snowfest & the Holiday Season
Holiday Tree Lightings (Sat., November 25) – Park City’s best holiday events open for the season with Holiday Tree lightings in both the Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village. Get ready cause 5pm everything is getting lit, with live holiday carols and music performed by Paul Cave.
Snowfest (Sat., December 16 – Sun., December 31) The most wonderful 16 days of the year features live music and activities - including ice sculptures, s’mores roasting and more - in both the Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village every single day! Keep your eyes peeled for Santa all Snowfest long, the jolly old elf is a known fan of the mountain and can be found on it daily leading up to Christmas Day.
Santa Comes Down Town Lift (Sat., December 16) – One of Park City’s best family holiday events and most cherished traditions returns for Santa’s annual trip down Town Lift. Gather at Town Lift Plaza on Lower Main Street and celebrate the season with carols, cookies and cocoa – then Santa descends from Park City’s peaks, down Town Lift and onto the plaza to take pictures and field gift requests from the kiddos on his Nice list.
55th Annual Torchlight Parade (Sun, December 24) - Perhaps Park City’s most popular holiday celebration is a tradition as old as the Resort, itself. Join us at the bottom of PayDay Lift in the Park City Mountain Village for cookies, hot chocolate and caroling as the sun sets; then enjoy the spectacular sight of dozens of lighted torches skiing down the mountain in an incredible procession. Never to be one-upped, Santa joins us at the end of the parade and gets one last visit with kids and families before setting off for his appointed rounds. Village activities start at 5:30, with Santa’s arrival scheduled for around 6pm. Warm up beforehand with live music in Legends Bar & Grill where we’ll be serving hot cocoa, warm holiday cocktails and all your Legends favorites.
New Year’s Eve Celebration & Fireworks (Sun., December 31) - Park City’s best New Year’s celebration blasts into 2018 at Canyons Village with live music from the Metro Music Club on the Village Stage, followed by a stunning fireworks display at 7:30. Join us for a truly memorable family-friendly new year’s celebration in the evening, with plenty of time to rest for a big New Year’s Day on the mountain - or take the party up to Main Street.
The Après Scene
Australia Day Celebration (Fri, January 26) - No one finds an occasion for a good party like our friends from Down Under - so we’re throwing a party in their honor on their official national day. Perfect that accent and join us for live music from - who else - Aussie Dogs in Canyons Village. Do you have some Aussie blood in you? This is the perfect place to celebrate! None at all? This is still the perfect place to celebrate! That’s how Aussies are.
Presidents Weekend Concert (Sat., February 17) - One of the ski season’s best weekends gets going strong with live music from as we kick off the Canyons Village concert schedule for the rest of the season.
Spring Concert Series (Sat. March 3) - The days are getting longer, and spring après season in Park City officially kicks off with a twinbill of live music - local favorites PATWA Reggae Band take the Canyons Village stage while Tony Holiday and the Velvetones rock the sunny afternoon in the Park City Mountain Village. Unbuckle those boots, kick back, and celebrate a great spring day on the mountain with some free live music!
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration (Sat., March 17) - Join us for live music on the PayDay Deck in the Park City Mountain Village, and on the Canyons Stage at Canyons Village, for our annual St Patrick’s Day celebration. Apres food specials at the Canyons Umbrella Bar!
Debuting this Season
Seven Summits Challenge (Sat., February 24) - Brand new this season, put your legs to the test at our inaugural Seven Summits Challenge. Can you hit seven summits - covering 7,300 acres of terrain - in one day? Bragging rights are on the line, and maybe a seat by the hot tub jet if your friends are nice. Stay tuned for the official course releasing in January…
USSA Rev Tour (Mon., February 26-Fri., March 2) - Get an up close look at the action sports stars of tomorrow when the Rev Tour returns to our snow in Slopestyle and Halfpipe events for skiers and snowboarders. The 2018 Games will have just wrapped, but this is the showcase for the young crop of athletes who plan to represent their countries in 2022.

It’s simply Park City’s best Spring Break celebration - and it’s back this year to show again why everyone looks forward to it all year. Warm sunny days, soft snow, free concerts, our annual Easter celebration and Utah’s best pond skim competition come together for what may be the best two weeks of the ski season.
Annual Easter Celebration (Sun. April 1) - Our all-mountain egg hunt returns! While more than 7,000 eggs scattered around the Resort will hold treats for all ages, those up for a real Easter challenge can look for any of our four Golden Eggs - each holding a very special prize that is worth the hunt. Kids ages 6 and under can participate in their own hunt in the Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village, while kids older than 6 can find eggs on First Time Run, on the Park City side. All hunts start promptly at 9am.
22nd Annual Pond Skimming Competition(Sat. April 7) - Whether your go-to spring skiing costume is an 80’s throwback, a sparkled-out tutu or something else you’ve been prepping all year; it’s time to bust it out and join us at Red Pine Lodge for Spring Gruv’s grand finale. Watch Park City’s 100 bravest - not finest - try to navigate our legendary 100 foot long pond skim pool and settle who really is the greatest of them all. Whether you’re one of the dozens competing, or hundreds watching, Pond Skim is one of the best days of the year to be on the mountain. Followed immediately by our final Spring Gruv concert of the year on the Canyons Village Stage. Pond Skim registration opens March 1 at noon.
Weekly Events
Avalanche Dog Meet & Greet (Weekly Fri., December 1-April 6 at Canyons Village Ski Beach; Weekly Sat., December2-April 7 at Park City Summit) - Get up close and personal with our ski patrollers’ best friends. Meet the patrol teams, enjoy some heavy petting and get begged for a belly rub - and then they bring the dogs out! Meet & greets at both locations are weekly.
S’mores (Weekly Sun., November 19 – April 8 at Park City Mountain Village; Weekly Sat., November 25 – April 7 at Canyons Village) Warm up your family’s stomachs with our ooey, gooey, and all around delicious complimentary s’mores. These treats are sure to put a sticky smile on your children’s faces while they warm up at the firepits in our villages. Make sure you stop by during certain holidays, where we’ll be mixing up the fixings on these fun snacks.
