Spring Skiing in Utah is an extraordinary experience.   The final March/April months of the season offer bluebird skies, soft spring conditions, and some of the deepest days of the year.  With summer knocking on the door, locals and guests flock to the resorts to make their final turns and celebrate the past winter season.

One of the most popular ways to wave farewell to winter in Utah is our 20th annual Spring Grüv celebration.  Spring Grüv provides guests and locals with 16 days of live music, free family activities and Utah’s one and only Pond Skimming Contest.  Hosted at mid-mountain just outside the Red Pine Lodge on Saturday March 19th, at 12:00pm, thousands of spectators will be on site to watch contestants test their luck at crossing the 100-foot, freezing cold, man-made pond on skis or a snowboard in an array of highly entertaining  costumes.  Check out some of the highlights from last year’s pond skim here!  You will need to purchase a Gondola ticket/have an Epic Pass to watch the event.

Ski all morning, catch the contest at noon, then immediately following the pond skim, unbuckle those boots and take the Red Pine Gondola down to Canyons Village.  There you will find the Village packed with people celebrating spring and grüving to live music by Johns Brown Body.

That’s not all. The following weekend at the Park City Base Area, we’ll be hosting a free concert with headliner Michael Franti & Spearhead on March 26th. To see what other bands are playing throughout Spring Grüv, head over to our concert lineup here.
