This year’s 8th annual Running with Ed (RWE) relay occurred on Saturday, May 21. This 38 mile, 10-leg relay race brought the entire Park City community together to celebrate one cause- Park City’s School District. RWE raised over $260,000 through runners and teams to fund Park City Education Foundation’s grant programs. The money will “support programs and items such as elementary art classes, affordable preschool, musical instruments, author visits, STEM classes, and many, many more” (https://www.crowdrise.com/runningwithed2016).
Park City Mountain has participated over the past several years as a leading sponsor as well as racing with employee teams. Vail Resorts’ EpicPromise program focuses on the Park City community by supporting non-profits that focus on youth programs and environmental initiatives. Through the EpicPromise grant, Running with Ed has been a leading fundraiser for Park City Education Foundation and the local community.
This year, we had four teams and 30 runners! The weather did not hold back as it rained, sleeted and snowed during Saturday’s race, but the sunshine greeted racers at the finish line. Participants ran the course which “offers everything from trail to pavement, challenging climbs to fast downhills, easy legs for beginners and tough ones for experts. Winding past Olympic venues, iconic landmarks, neighborhood schools, and historic Main Street, this is Park City’s best!” (http://runningwithed.com/). The finish line was hosted by Basin Recreation Fieldhouse and offered free BBQ, ice cream and activities to runners. Park City Mountain had a free face painting booth which had a steady line throughout the entire finish party. Thank you to our Park City Mountain RWE runners, captains, and drivers. Special thank you to Francie K. and her daughter, Victoria, for painting faces for RWE fans!
Be sure to mark May 20th on your calendars and stay tuned for more details for RWE 2017!
