Greetings and hello! My name is Phil Dobson, the Social Media and Digital Coordinator here at the resort. This season has been filled with inspiring content and great photos from our staff, guests, and our own photographers as well. As summer kicks into full swing, to be honest, I'm already missing the snow and all the fun that it entailed. Feeling the itch, I went back through our social media accounts and pulled the photos that you and our followers enjoyed the most through the '15/'16 Winter Season. Enjoy
1) Jupiter Peak Avalanche Control - Photo: Austin Divesta
Now how often do you get to see a photo like this? No wonder it's our top liked photo on Instagram. Ski Patroller Austin Divesta was able to snap this shot of them doing Avalanche control work on Jupiter Peak and the shutter flicked at just the right time to capture the explosion. Patrol will use explosives to send vibrations through the snowpack to trigger any loose layers that may be hidden in the snowpack. Avalanche control usually happens after any snowfall of 4"+. Bonus points for anybody who could name the lift in the background.
2) The new Quicksilver Gondola - Photo: Resort Videographer/Photographer Michael Madsen
Perhaps the biggest story of the winter season, the connection of Canyons and Park City to become one resort. Thanks to the new 8-passenger Quicksilver Gondola, the two resorts become one resort. The conditions were nearly perfect on this January day. After receiving a fresh snowfall overnight, we were greeted by picture perfect blue skies and an even better day of receiving fresh tracks.
3) Morning Corduroy - Photo: Michael Madsen
Another Bluebird day greeted Mike and I this perfect morning. While we were cruising around looking for shots, we decided to ski into town for a quick stop at our favorite coffee shop Atticus. Whether skiing powder down to Town Lift or our world-class groomers, skiing or riding into town is a must for any visitor.
4) Avy Puppy Rogue Photo: Michael Madsen
If you want high engagement on social media, post photos of puppies. We were lucky to get a new member to our Avalanche Dog crew with Rogue. This Australian/Shepard Mix sure grew up fast as he's almost full size now. Rogue has completed all of his training and looks forward to his second year as a patrol pup. In the summer, he's on the river banks enjoying the water as his owner fly-fishes by his side.
5) Pinecone Ridge Terrain - Photo Michael Madsen
The new Quicksilver Gondola opened up Pinecone Ridge to the public for the first time ever. This hike to access guarantees fresh tracks and yes, it rides as good as it looks. One thing that never gets old are the bluebird days the come after a snowstorm. Expert only Pinecone Ridge can be accessed via the Quicksilver Gondola Mid-Staton or through Juipiter Lift.
6) Life Inside a Snowglobe Photo: Phil Dobson
It was truly a magical moment as I was lapping Jupiter Lift all morning when the sun burst through for the first time after a 3 day storm cycle. The snow continued to fall as the suns ray's illuminated the falling snow crystals. These one-of-a-kind moments never get old. A little selfishly, this is the only photo I captured on my Iphone that day as I was way to busy enjoying the fresh tracks.
